MURALS:THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART. BRITISH GALLERIES: THE LANSDOWNE DINING ROOM.
Oil on Canvas
DETAILS OF THE MURAL.
Boyd Reath designed the Mural's composition to represent Lansdowne's garden in winter soon after construction. The right view includes the neighboring Devonshire House garden. The center pictures London beyond the garden wall with rows of Georgian townhouses and includes Hay Hill leading up to Ashburnham House.
In the left window, the path leads to the entry gate, also designed by Adam. To the far left is Berkeley Square and St.George's Chapel in the distance. The wrought iron fence finials are also Adam's.
